Overview
The Deep Research Block is an agentic research block that browses the web, synthesizes sources, and produces structured research output. It runs models in a loop internally, which means it costs more credits but produces significantly deeper output than a single prompt. Good for market research, competitive analysis, literature reviews, and any task that requires gathering and synthesizing information from many sources. The block uses two components: a planning model that plans the research steps, and a writing model that consolidates findings into the final report. This allows you to combine the planning capabilities of one model with the writing capabilities of another.Key Features
- Real-time Web Search: Accesses current information from across the internet or documents on the canvas
- Agentic Research Loop: Runs models in a loop behind the scenes, producing significantly deeper output than a single prompt
- Web and Doc Search: Specify if you want the block to search through the web and/or all “documents” anywhere on the canvas. Note: This is for broader search — connected blocks will be used as context regardless of these settings
- Search Control: Scope searching for both web (include/exclude domains, categories, date ranges) and documents (select specific files)
- Source Citations: Includes links and references for verification
- Context Aware: Uses context from connected blocks to focus research and writing
How to Use
- Create a Deep Research Block: Click on canvas → Select “Deep Research Block”
- Enter Research Topic: Type your research question or topic
- Configure Search: Select web and/or document search (web turned on by default)
- Select Models: Choose your planner model (determines how/what/where to search) and writer model (consolidates research into final report)
- Connect to Other Blocks: Share research findings with Chat, Prompt, or Memo blocks
